Behind the Scenes at Carnton
Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00 am.
Carnton’s Behind the Scenes Tour will allow visitors to experience areas of the house inaccessible on the Classic house tour. The tour will begin with main areas of the house, before exploring the basement, third floor and back balcony. This unique tour will be led by James Redford, who has worked at Carnton for over 20 years. By seeing rooms never before accessed by the public, guests will be able to further understand the history of the McGavock family, who was directly impacted by the Battle of Franklin and saw their home used as a field hospital for Confederate wounded.
Arrive at Carnton Plantation at least 15 minutes prior to tour time. The Behind the Scenes Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. This tour is not recommended for children under the age of ten or those with limited mobility.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Online ticket sales end 24 hours before scheduled tour, however walk-ins are welcome.
