  • October 6: Muster and Descriptive Roll of a Detacment of US Vols. Forwarded for the 12th Reg’t Kentucky Inf. Louisville Kentucky. Benjamin F. Eggleston. Private. 19 years. Farmer. Brown hair. Brown Eyes. Fair Complexion. 5’8”.  Remarks “Substitute.”
  • November 17:  Assigned to Co. A. 12th Kentucky Infantry.
  • November 30:  After being with his regiment for less than two weeks Benjamin fought at the Battle of Franklin.
  • November and December:  Company Muster Roll. Absent.  Remarks “Assigned to Co. Nov. 17. 1864. Sick in hospital Nashville Tenn since Dec. 9. 1864.” 

1865

  • December 31:  Benjamin F. Eggleston dies and is buried at Sand Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Boone County, Kentucky.
