Franklin Civil War Round Table: "Cleburne's Last Campaign"

The Franklin Civil War Round Table will present author and historian Lee White of the National Park Service who will speak on “Cleburne’s Last Campaign.” The event is free to the public. The Franklin Civil War Round Table is an educational program of Franklin’s Charge, and will meet for this month only at the historic Franklin Masonic Lodge, 115 2nd Ave South, in Franklin. Calicos & Cadets Summer Camp: "Walking in Their Footsteps"
July 15-16, 2016
9 am - 4 pm
Every summer, The Battle of Franklin Trust hosts Calicos & Cadets in June and July. Boys and girls ages 6 - 12 are invited to join us as we explore 19th century soldier and civilian life through activities, games, and re-enactor demonstrations. Read more about this camp session here.

Vintage Base Ball

The field adjacent to Carnton Plantation is the home field of the Franklin Farriers, our local vintage base ball team. Bring out your lawn chairs or blankets and take in a base ball game played by 1860s rules. Read more about vintage base ball here.

Sunset Concert Series: Journey Tribute Band
July 31, 2016
Carnton Plantation serves as a unique venue for friends and families to relax on the lawn and listen to some of area’s most talented musicians. The gates open at 5:00 pm and the music lasts from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Tickets may be purchased either in advance or at the door. Guests are welcome to pack picnic dinners or take advantage of on-site food and beverage vendors. Click here for more information!

Movie Night at Carnton: Night at the Museum

Watch a movie under the stars on the lawn at Carnton Plantation. Gates open at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7:30 (sunset). The cost is $5 for ages 5 and up.

Bootlegger’s Bash

Inspired by Williamson County’s unique history of bootlegging, the Bootlegger’s Bash is an event which attracts a fun crowd.  This casual evening at Carnton Plantation will give guests the opportunity to taste local whiskeys, enjoy a delicious Southern supper, and be entertained by a lively band.  Tickets are required and must be purchased in advance.  Click here to buy tickets!

Descendants’ Reunion
September 23 – 25, 2016
The Battle of Franklin Trust periodically hosts Descendants’ Reunions.  The event will allow descendants of soldiers who fought in the Battle of Franklin, as well as those descended from families who lived in Franklin during the Civil War, to gather together and experience the history of their ancestors.  Registration is required. Click here for more information or to register!

Battle of Franklin Symposium
October 21 – 22, 2016
Through lectures, panel discussions, and tours of the battlefield and historic homes, the symposium will offer an in-depth look at the Western Theater of the Civil War in 1864. Attendees will learn about the events leading up to the Battle of Franklin, the battle’s tactics, civilian perspectives, and post battle logistics. This event will allow guests to learn about this pivotal moment in American history in a unique way. Click here for more information or to register for this event!

Blue & Gray Days
November 4-5, 2016
Blue & Gray Days draws hundreds of school children and adult spectators every year.  Hosted by both The Carter House and Carnton Plantation, guests will meet Civil War re-enactors and get hands-on experience with clothes, trades, and weapons of the past.  This living history experience is the perfect field trip and great for families.  For additional details or to make field trip reservations, please contact Angell Wallace at (615) 794-0903 or angell@boft.org.

152nd Anniversary of the Battle of Franklin – Illumination
November 30, 2016
To commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Franklin, 10,000 luminaries, representing the casualties of the battle, will be lit at dusk. This event is free to the public. 

Hands On History – Christmas in Carrie’s Attic
December 17, 2016
10 am – 12 pm
The children will be read ‘Twas the night before Christmas, make Old fashioned Christmas cards and ornaments and may even be visited by old Saint Nicholas himself! Reservations are required and the cost is $15/child. Please contact Angell Wallace at (615) 794-0903 or angell@boft.org.
