About the Behind the Scenes Tour

The Behind the Scenes Tour at Carter House allows visitors to explore the historic home in a new way by visiting areas of the home not included in the Classic House Tour. The tour focuses on the Battle of Franklin and Carter family’s experiences before, during, and after the Civil War. Guests will visit every room of the house, including the upstairs, as well as the outbuildings and immediate grounds. Topics will also include how the Carter House was saved in the 1950s and how the battlefield has been reclaimed into what you see today.

The Behind the Scenes Tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. This tour is not recommended for children under the age of ten or those with limited mobility.
