1844

  • Oscar Daniels was born to parents Horace and Sally Daniels in Ohio.

1850

  • September 23:  The U.S. Federal Census enumerated in Deerfield, Portage County, OH showed 6-year-old Oscar living with his parents and siblings. His father, Horace, is a farmer. 

1857

  • September 24:  Oscar’s father Horace died.

1860

  • June 8:  The U.S. Federal Census enumerated in Millcreek, Williams County, OH showed 16-year-old Oscar living with his mother and siblings.

1861

  • April 27:  Oscar’s older brother Oramel Daniels enlisted in the U.S. Army. He mustered into Co. K 8th OH Infantry.
  • September 15: Another brother Frederick Daniels enlisted in the U.S. Army. He mustered into Co. D 11th IL Infantry.

1862

  • August 14:  Oscar Daniels enlisted in the U.S. Army. His brother Almon had enlisted 3 days before.

1864

  • November 30:  Oscar was killed at the Battle of Franklin. His regiment, the 111th OH, fought on the West side of the Columbia along the main line. His brother Almond was captured.
