The Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501(c)(3) corporation with the mission to preserve, understand, and interpret the story of a people forever impacted by the American Civil War.
There are a variety of ways in which you can support the efforts of The Battle of Franklin Trust in addition to visiting the battlefields and sites. You may also support through online gifts, checks, credit cards, money orders, gifts of stocks and securities, matching gifts, planned gifts through your estate, or choosing The Battle of Franklin Trust as your preferred nonprofit through Kroger Community Rewards. Corporations can also support the Trust by hosting an event onsite or through Corporate Partnership.
Regardless of which way of giving works best for you, you can choose to help us build the Spring Hill Endowment & Battle of Franklin Endowment, replenish our operating reserves through an annual membership, or make an outright gift to the general operation, a restoration project, or battlefield reclamation efforts. Your generosity has enabled us to make great progress in preserving this history. Please help us keep moving forward while sustaining what has been accomplished.

Matching Gifts
Many employers and companies will match their employees’ contributions, and if your company is one of those, your generosity to the Battle of Franklin Trust could be double or even tripled. It is an easy process. Request or download a matching gift from your company. Complete and send the form to the Battle of Franklin Trust, 1345 Eastern Flank Circle, Franklin, TN 37064, along with your gift. The Trust will verify the form and return it to your company. Your company will then make a matching gift contribution to The Battle of Franklin Trust – thanks to you!
Planned Gifts
Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for the mission of Battle of Franklin Trust and establish a personal lasting legacy while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. Gifts made from your accumulated assets (cash or historical collections) rather than from your annual income, either during life or at the time of your death, can secure this history for future generations. Unless otherwise requested by the donor, all planned gifts will be directed to the funding of the Battle of Franklin Endowment.
Kroger Community Rewards
Do you shop at Kroger? The Battle of Franklin Trust has joined Kroger’s Community Rewards program! Kroger allocates up to $2.5 million annually to Kroger Community Reward organizations. All you have to do is shop at Kroger and swipe your Plus Card! Register online and select The Battle of Franklin Trust as the organization you wish to support.
General Donations
Donations to the general operation of the organization help pay for critical programming at Carnton, Carter House, and Rippa Villa, allow adaptability, flexibility and quickness to capitalize on interpretative opportunities that arise unexpectedly as well as build a reserve to prepare for those necessary expected and unexpected expenses such as the COVID-19 economy shut down that arise with the preservation of historic artifacts and structures.
Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Endowments
As the 501©3 corporation that manages Carter House, Carnton, and Rippa Villa, The Battle of Franklin Trust has always worked with the mandate that the day-to-day operation must sustain itself. However, endowments are different ways to support the future because their intent is not to support day-to-day operations. They are intended to support and protect historic structures, enhance and protect the collection, and purchase, or protect, relevant land. We ask you to consider directing any support, regardless of your giving vehicle, to either the Spring Hill Endowment or the Battle of Franklin Endowment.
Two endowment funds were established to support our efforts in Spring Hill and Franklin. Their purpose is to protect and preserve over a dozen historic structures, support battlefield reclamation efforts, plan for the long-term future, and secure each site’s place in history. The Endowments were designed to be at the heart of philanthropic support for the interpretation of these American stories.
A total of 15% of every membership is allocated to the Endowment – 10% to the Franklin Endowment and 5% to the Spring Hill Endowment. Direct contributions to either Endowment can also be made. Estate and memorial gifts to BOFT will be directed toward the Endowment of choice or split as noted above to provide preservation support in perpetuity.
