Ways to Support The Battle of Franklin Trust
As the 501©3 corporation that manages Carter House, Carnton, and Rippa Villa, The Battle of Franklin Trust has always worked with the mandate that the day-to-day operation must sustain itself. However, endowments are different ways to support the future because their intent is not to support day-to-day operations. They are intended to support and protect historic structures, enhance and protect the collection, and purchase, or protect, relevant land. We ask you to consider directing any support, regardless of your giving vehicle, to general operations or either the Spring Hill Endowment or Battle of Franklin Endowment.
Stocks and Securities
Please direct all questions related to stock gifts to the Director of Development, Laurie McPeak at laurie@boft.org or (615) 786-1864.
Two of the most impactful days of every year at the Battle of Franklin Trust are November 29 and November 30 regardless of the day of week in which they fall. These are the anniversaries of the Battle of Spring Hill, and the Battle of Franklin.
Each year the Trust commemorates these anniversaries with various programs, including condensed guided tours through each property. 2024 is the 160 anniversaries of the Battles of Spring Hill and Franklin, and we need volunteers to prepare in October and also day of and evening, Saturday, November 30.
If you are interested in being more than just a spectator for this year’s 160 Anniversary effort, please contact Emily@boft.org and share your which project below you are interested and available:
Volunteer Projects in Franklin Include:
October (multiple dates) – low impact, sitting, stuffing, and stacking in a temperature-controlled space.
Saturday, November 30 – Luminary distribution across battlefield, set out and also pick up. Some bending and squatting required, but not heavy lifting. Location is outside regardless of temperature, some pavement, mostly uneven battlefield.

Matching Gifts
Many employers and companies will match their employees’ contributions, and if your company is one of those, your generosity to the Battle of Franklin Trust could be double or even tripled. It’s an easy process. Request or download a matching gift from your company. Complete and send the form to the Battle of Franklin Trust, 1345 Eastern Flank Circle, Franklin, TN 37064, along with your gift. The Trust will verify the form and return it to your company. Your company will then make a matching gift contribution to The Battle of Franklin Trust – thanks to you!
Planned Gifts
Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for the mission of Battle of Franklin Trust, establish a personal lasting legacy while accommodating your own personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. Gifts made from your accumulated assets (cash or historical collections) rather than from your annual income, either during life or at the time of your death can secure this history for future generations. Contact Laurie McPeak, Director of Development, at (615) 786-1864 for specifics in how to incorporate the Trust’s work in to your estate planning. Unless otherwise requested by the donor, all planned gifts will be directed to the funding of the Battle of Franklin Endowment.
